Barca close to signing Ibrahimovic
Catalan news daily “Sport” claims that FC Barcelona have already reached a deal on signing the Swedish international and Inter Milan striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
FC Barcelona`s president, Joan Laporta traveled to Milan yesterday to hold talks with Inter Milan boss, Massimo Moratti. Reportedly, the two presidents reached a deal around midnight and are soon to announce the transfer.
According to sources coming from Italy, in an exchange for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, FC Barcelona will be paying 40 million euros + Eto + sending the Belarus international Alexander Hleb on a loan to Inter. The Swedish striker would also be willing to lower his wages in order to help the transfer go through.
This is tragic. Simply tragic. I can’t believe this has actually happened. Eto’o can keep Ibrahimovic in his shoulder and score goals. He’s one of the most overrated players and would not suit our style at all. 40 million plus Eto’o?! Madness. If this goes on, it will definitely be the worst transfer in Barcelona’s history ever. I’m depressed.
I dont know if this was the worst signing ever but it definately came as a suprise to me. I wouldve like to have Villa but Ibra is an amazing footballer. Whether or not he is better than Eto’o is debatable but what matters is if he will preform better than Eto’o. If not we always have Bojan who is ready to step up.
That’s madness! Of all the bad things around, the worst is that we would miss Villa ! Pls be aware of the fans’ opinion, Laporta/Txiki or even Pep (though I wonder Pep would accept it – we know that he only wants Villa)

Ibra is very good but, personally, I think 40 million incl. Eto’o is too much. We should be after David Villa instead with this kind of money. I think it would be bad news if, after all these years of reasonable expenditure on good players, we suddenly made a bid worth 70million on just one player. I would also be suprised if Pep agreed on all this.

Too much for ibra. Barca is better off getting Villa.. not a very good deal although Ibra is good but still – I’m not a fan of this deal at all, it’s just too much for one player who isn’t better than Eto’o in my opinion.
Also Laporta is becoming a let down. Never let a player like Villa slip away.. stupid, stupid, stupid.

I dont understand why everybody is so upset by this deal. As much as im a fan of eto’o for all he’s done for us, there is no denying that if he gets 10 chances a game he misses at least 8. His finnishing is no longer what it used to be and with not even a year left on his contract and his constant outbursts and demands for higher wages he is fast becoming a thorn in Guardiolas side. A thorn that barca dnt want to see leave for free once his contract is up. Ibra’s finnishing is clinincal and he brings another dimension to the barca attack in the air. With Xavi, Iniesta and co assisting him throughout the games we will be unstoppable once again. With Ibra at Barca i can see us breaking scoring records again next season.
Guys, listen, that stupid Llorente doesn’t wanna lower that 50 million he wanted for Villa… So, more than 50 million is a lot, plus, we’d still have that problem of Eto’o and the fact that nobody wants to sign him (except for Man. city who aren’t playing in the Champions league)! And if he stays, he’ll be free next year! So, I think this is a very good solution to this problem… We get ourselves a very very good and technical striker, and Eto’o will play in a very good club that competes in the Champions league! The 40 million thing is way too much, but if that’s the best they could do then so be it! Better than getting Villa and being stuck with Eto’o!

One reason I could think of is money. We are basically giving 2 Eto´s for Ibrahimovic.
altho i think 40 + eto’o is a bit much, i think Zlatan is perfect for Barca.. And all you eto’o-lovers, if would ‘ve signed an extension, no problem, but now..
And if they don’t want to sell Villa, the are not going to sell villa..tri-campeons or not..
I heard a rumour stating that villa offered to pay €8m euro to make it €50m, after this gesture they informed barca they wanted his €100m euro buy clause or no deal. so that being that they are now moving for ibrahimovic.

I agree with you, it’s a tragedy!! It look like now we are foolish like Madrid!! Instead of using all his power and money to get Villa, he used them for nothing!! It’s true that Ibra is a good player but I fear he couldn’t understand the barca way of play However Villa can perfectly be as confortable as he would be in Barca with Xavi and Iniesta he could be the striker of all time!! I hope that finally they find an agreement with Villa because it’s what Barca needs and not an overrated player who could be useless for the team or even harm the stability see it now espacially financely!
Laporta and Tixki are CRAZY…Milan must have put a spell on them, cuz they are not thinking straight. That deal is a reap-off, WHAT!!!!! 40mil + Eto’o and Hleb for Ibra…they must be smoking something. What happened to getting Villa????? IBra has scored 116 goals in the serie A (including Juventus and Inter) while Eto’o has scored 141 (for Mallorca and Barca) i’ll let u figure out who’s the best.
40 million plus eto’o and hleb is way too much. But if we compare it to the transfers of kaka and ronaldo then having a 75 million value (or so) is reasonable. If we get ibra I don’t think it will be worth the price. He will do wonders to our attacking options though. I would still prefer to get villa instead who would be an instant success at Barca due to the chemistry already present.
Again, I can’t believe the deal is actually going through. Letting go one of the best Barca players of all times, a deadly striker, for a lazy tall guy who tries trick all the time, fails and then ends up with 15 goals per season is a complete joke. Eto’o is way better than Ibrahimovic. And 40 million plus? Talk about Laporta’s slashing of Real Madrid when he himself completes Barcelona’s worst transfer in the history by paying stupid amounts. I am really disappointed.
they need to pay this much because of the inflated market… we have no choice. ibrah also states he is willing to take a pay cut to come here… meaning we will save milions that way too.
Hi!!!! I agree with Nesma!!! I love Eto’o too, but he is not as good in air as Ibra.Barca last seazon scored less then 20 goals from air. With Ibra we will improve this statistick;]
Laporta, txiki ,raul ,and guardiola,think what u people are doing now is right ,for this wisemen ,especial a lawyer like laporta ,imagine barcelona going for ibra at the rate of 70 million pounds,is too much.that’s bad news for barca ,especial laporta the lawyer.
