Ferrer: “The issue was solved internally”
Jaume Ferrer, one of the four vicepresidents involved in the recently-announced espionage case from FC Barcelona, says that for him the matter is closed.
Ferrer called a press conference today, and explained that “it was an issue we dealt with in April when we realised that when we forced the issue they gave us the appropriate explanations and we closed the subject. I think that we have taken a good decision”.
“Nobody likes to hear these things,” Ferrer commented when asked how he felt upon learning there had been a safety audit. “But as I said, we addressed the issue and it is already solved internally”.
The journalists also wanted to know his opinion the fact that club president Joan Laporta had not been informed of the espionage. However Ferrer felt compelled only to tell the story from his side.
“I won’t go into the president’s side [of the situation]. I only know that I closed the issue in April”.
And speaking of Laporta’s comments that the emergence of the story now is due to certain people looking to damage his reputation, Ferrer commented that “I do not know if there is a ‘black hand’. If he says so then he should know”.
Ferrer also added that he was not sure if this was the beginning of a ‘war’ ahead of the presidential elections this summer.
“The elections are far away and we are only concerned about the management of the club, which has important challenges”.
Finally, he confirmed that he is “no longer thinking about the subject. Now it seems like we are rereading a book that was locked away in a cupboard with a key. I did not think I would live it again now and I do not want to give it more importance than I had back then”.
