Laporta: “It is important that we only think about ourselves and not the others”
FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta today said that his club should not worry about the result of tonight’s encounter between 2nd-placed Real Madrid and 3rd-placed Sevilla.
Laporta spoke ahead of his trip to Mexico and Ecuador, and commented that Barça shoul “only” be aware of itself.
“I think the important thing is that we are thinking of ourselves. There will be time to see what are rivals are doing. Winning is difficult, as has been shown against Almería, and it is very important that we put in our work and not think about the others”.
After yesterday’s 1-0 win over Almería, Barça sit 3 points clear of Real Madrid, although any sort of victory for the Blancos would put them in 1st place due to goal difference.
“[The game] proves that the team has great talent, and also works hard and is very competitive,” Laporta said of the victory. “They are important side-stories and now what is necessary is to surpass this mark”.
The goal scorer last night was 23-year old winger Pedro who has scored a goal every 85 minutes this season. Speaking of Pedro, Laporta commented that he “has shown his great talent. He is rightly a first team player and has proved that he has t alent and, furthermore, makes an effort and does not give up on any lost ball. He also has an eye for goal which is very important for forwards”.
