Leo Messi will not play against Sporting Gijon
Lionel Messi will travel to Argentina in order to help his national team to qualify to the World Cup in South Africa.
Juliano Grondona already confirmed the rumours and said that Guardiola and Maradona have reached an agreement. Pep was acquainted with all the details immediately after Messi had arrived from Russia and had time to weigh the risks involved in the absence of his best player. The Barca coach might have more reasons to worry with Dani Alves being determined as well to help his national team.
Lionel Messi is meanwhile still in the process of recuperation from muscular strain and is expected to be fully recovered in a few days time.
i think dani does not have to go because Maicon will generally start in front of him and der is no point releasing him early only to sit on the bench.
I am bit worried about the emotional repercussions on Messi if Argentina don’t qualify for the World Cup. He will be more than sulking. I think he will be devastated and may shoulder a huge chunk of the responsibility if this unfortunate event does take place. That’s why he is doing more than he possibly can to ensure that the team makes it. At least he knows he tried.
Bad news. Something should be done about this crazy SA fixtures.
the FIFA virus strikes again, lets hope our boys come back un-scathed, this just shows why teams in europe should have minimum dependance on players from africa and south america (if possible), i hope barca’s signings for the next few years all be from europe.
