Messi: “I will probably play in the European Supercup”
Lionel Messi has been sidelined during the last match of his national team due to muscular strain and remains a doubt for the upcoming matches of Barca.
“I would have loved to play, but I couldn’t because I felt some strain in my muscles. Fortunately, it is nothing serious. Now I feel much better and I don’t feel pain anymore. I would probably be able to play, but I refused it and said I wanted to wait,” said Messi.
“Surely, I will rest in the following days, trying to recuperate. I will probably play in the European Supercup match against Shakhtar Donetsk. This shouldn’t be a problem,” added the Argentine player.
La Liga starts on September, 1 and Argentina plays against Brazil on September, 5. Messi expressed a strong desire to help his national team: “I’ve spoken with Guardiola and asked him if I can travel to Argentina after August, 28, if I get permission.” The Barcelona coach apparently hasn’t voiced his opinion on this issue yet.
FC Barcelona reports that Messi will be submitted to medical tests tomorrow to examine gravity of the injury.
