FC Barcelona forward and Argentinian international, Lionel Messi, will be offered an improved contract upon his return from the US pre-season tour.
The Catalan club decided to renew Messi`s contract following the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic who now overtook Messi as the highest paid Barca footballer. Barcelona will be looking to equal the players wages and in addition to offering an improved deal to the Argentianian they will also be adding a new release-clause of 250 million euros.
Last time Barca renewed the Argentinian`s contract was a year ago, when the player was offered a deal of 8,5 million euros per year.

I was just going to bring up what Eby said i.e. Xavi, Iniesta and Puyol deserve it even more. When I think of true Catalan spirit, its the trio that first comes to my mind. Their commitment and passion for the club cannot be ignored. Especially Iniesta, the guy is just too darn innocent. More than Messi, who I think just cannot be bought, I think it is Iniesta, who all the big clubs will be eyeing. We need to give him a better deal to prove that we value him as much as Messi.
