Messi: European Player of the Year

FC Barcelona forward Lionel Messi won the 2008-2009 Uefa award for the European Footballer of the Year.

The Argentinian also won the award for the Club Forward of the Year while Barca playmaker Xavi Hernandez was voted Club Midfielder of the Year.

Goalkeeper of the Year : Edwin van der Sar

Defender of the Year: John Terry

Midfielder of the Year: Xavi

Forward of the Year: Messi

Player of the Year: Messi

    Messi deserves to be named European Player of the Year. He is incredible and such an inspiration. Well done Messi.

    Also, well done Xavi being named best Midfielder of the Year. My son is 12 years old, plays for a local football team, loves FC Barcelona. His dream is to train at their youth camp and is controlling and holding the ball in midfield all down to watching and practising what Xavi does.

  4. Messi doesn’t play dancing football like Ronaldo. But The control over the Ball and creating chances to get goals Messi has far more better ability than Ronaldo. Ronaldo Plays glamor football by dancing his foots. Messi never dances still has better control plus better pace than Ronaldo. God Bless Messi. Keep Playing like this and treat our eyes for so long as your are doing these days…
