Catalan newspaper “El Mundo Deportivo” brought the story of former FC Barcelona player, Javier Saviola, who revealed that the reason he left Real Madrid last season was so he can be happy again and that he harbours no ill-feelings towards them.

Currently playing for Portugal’s SL Benfica, he also said he doesn’t feel he has to prove anything to anyone and he always gets his satisfaction when he is playing and just being inside a stadium.

Recalling his time at Real Madrid, he says he has no regret in not leaving much sooner and philosophically said that he is a fighter who never gives up. Yet he remembers feeling uneasy going to training everyday knowing he won’t even play, but insist he always has a positive mindset.

He says he has recovered his touches when he scored a goal for Benfica the weekend before and was surprised he still has the ability to run with the ball at his feet insisting that a player will perform when he regains his confidence and when he feels good.

Saviola then said he believes those that accuse him of moving to the Bernabeu for the money did not know him even a little bit because the only thing he likes is playing football and being happy when he is on the pitch.

He concluded the interview by saying that he is feeling good again and feels he was perhaps back on a first team selection.
