Messi close to recovering for El Clasico

Catalan sports newspapers report that FC Barcelona forward, Lionel Messi, is close to recovering for upcoming clash with Real Madrid.

Ivorian international Yaya Toure, recovered from swine flu and attended the latest training session. Lionel Messi was also present but he was practicing alone as he is still undergoing his special recovery treatment.
Messi, Ibrahimovic and Dani Alves missed the training and Barca coach, Pep Guardiola, decided to replace them with Fontas and Jonathan in today’s training.

Sunday training with 6 absentees

FC Barcelona first team conducted the Sunday morning training session without injured Henry and Chygrynskiy and Ibrahimovic, Alves, Messi and Xavi, who stayed in the gym to do recovery work.

The team returned to Barcelona at around 1AM and as soon as 11AM, the first team was already in Ciudad Deportiva for their usual training. After the grueling league match against Malaga Josep Guardiola’s men are now focused for Tuesday’s second round of the Champions League. This time the opponent will be Dynamo Kiev, which will arrive at Camp Nou as leaders of the group F.

Zlatan trained with the team for the first time

Zlatan Ibrahimovic took part in his first training session with Barca. The Swedish striker received loud ovations from his teammates on the pitch of the University of Washington, Seattle. He successfully healed his injury and was able to train normally with the whole group.

Pep grouped him together with his teammate from Inter, Maxwell and Henrique who were later joined by Alves and Keita. However, members of the staff kept a close eye on Zlatan and refrained from forcing him due to his recent injury. When the training became more intensified Zlatan moved to the sideline and passed the ball together with one of the assistants.

Even though Zlatan trained with the team, the staff doesn’t want to rush him into more action and he is expected to make his debut at the Gamper Cup against Manchester City on August, 19.

Players who participated in the Confederations cup return today

Players that participated in international competitions were allowed to protract their vacations for one week. Xavi, Puyol, Pique, Iniesta, Alves and Sergio Busquets return today to undergo medical examinations.

In the afternoon training session they will try to catch the pace of the pre-season and get prepared for the season which is looming ahead.

Andres Iniesta is a player that hasn’t enjoyed his holidays the most, due to his recuperation from an injury. He is expected to train today, but not with the same intensity as the other part of the team. On the other side, Pique like Messi shortened his vacations and has already made some practicing alone in the Ciutat Esportiva. This reflects his commitment and willingness to work.
